WHAT IF? THE ART OF JEFF EASLEY

Jeff Easley

Last summer I had my AotG designer do a mock-up for the Jeff Easley art book that Jeff and I had been working on since roughly 2009.  What do you all think about it, especially considering that Jeff has never, ever, had an art book created around all his incredible art?  Would you lend support to a Kickstarter?  We need to hear from you if something like this was to happen. Remember, AotG is also in the middle of a classic OSR/5E module Kickstarter and are only a few hundred dollars from our goal!  You can check the banner to...

THE BOOK OF MARVELOUS MAGIC

Clyde Caldwell TSR

I’m going to admit that are many occasions when I buy gaming supplements for no other reason than the artwork, and that certainly proved true with my purchase of The Book of Marvelous Magic. Written for the Basic D&D System by Frank Mentzer and Gary Gygax in 1985 [and oddly there are a LOT of 1985 products produced by Gary upon his brief return to TSR from Hollywood and before his ouster in August of that year], this 76 page magical item compendium lists over 500 new magi items. Now in 1985, Unearthed Arcana was produced for the AD&D system, so...

ISLE OF THE APE: World of Greyhawk Adventure

AD&D Modules Jeff Easley TSR

I must admit I've always been intrigued by GW6 because it was a Gary Gygax written adventure I own but have never played.  I can only assume this is that case because of the level requirement, 18+, which in 1st Edition D&D is very hard to come by.  I remember speaking with E. Gary Gygax once and he indicated his archmage Tenser was only 17th level, if that puts things into perspective, so Isle of the Ape is something that kind of stays on the shelf to be looked at but not participated in. Artistically, the cover was done by...

THE LORDS OF DARKNESS

Forgotten Realms Jeff Easley Karl Waller TSR

Back in 1988, when the Forgotten Realms was in its infancy on the open market, TSR produced the 96 page Lords of Darkness adventure anthology. It is set in various places around the Forgotten Realms, and has a nice intro by Ed Greenwood. All adventures focus on the dead, and the cover is a sublime Jeff Easley, who is an undead master as far as I’m concerned. Interior work is done by artist Karl Waller who provides some really slick b/w illustrations that capture the horror adventures find when dealing with the dead.Adventures included in the anthology focus on particular...

Top 10 Gaming Modules Series of All Time

Top 10 Gaming Modules Series of All Time

I’m not really sure when I played my first module, although I think it was at my first D&D Club meeting in 8th Grade. My only clear memory of actual adventure, while I sat in that library on Wednesday evenings after school, was trying, and failing, to enter the Steading of the Hill Giant Chief. So, I might assume that G1,2,3 [well, at least G1] was my first ever module, and I think that is interesting because it places my induction into gaming modules at the epicenter of what campaign modules should be. Having spent the past two and a...
