THE ART OF THE SPACE WRECK
Ever since I read Stewart Crowley's SpaceWreck: Terran Trade Authority (from my friend Mark Timm's older brother Greg's collection in the mid 1980s) I've been inspired by ghost ships and derelict spacecraft, especially in my science fiction RPGs. Today, I take a look at some modern takes on downed and broken spacecraft, and hopefully they will inspire you in to great adventures in your next science fiction campaign! Asteroid fields and space debris, always a good starting point for a creepy 'find'. Downed craft, dark planet? Check! Did the characters set off this explosion, are are the bearing witness to...
DWARVES THAT I THINK ARE BADASS
Dwarves Jeff Laubenstein Jim Holloway Larry Elmore Wayne Reynolds
Dwarves, we've all played them at one time or another, so I thought I'd share a few that I thought were inspiring. The hefty older dwarf with the small white stash... he has a story to tell Yeah, he's going to kick someone's ass really soon... Wayne Reynolds always does a nice dwarf, and I mine did typically use a crossbow Is there anything better than a b/w Holloway dwarven god illustration? Well, maybe a Laubenstein Earthdawn smith next to an Elmore basic one? Anyone ever play a female dwarf? Well, other than in the Slave Lords series? How about...

Loved is so much, I had artist Brian 'Glad' Thomas do a version of it in Folio #3! Hommlet... Dee does The Walking Dead before the Walking Dead was cool. Nuff said! Natives, Dinos, and Albino Elves... yeah, you had me at Natives. Again, had to have Brian 'Glad' Thomas do a version of this for a Folio, this time #2. Just incredible movement! Tomb of Horrors, and my gaming...
Tales of the Black Widow Company: A FASA gem from 1985
I’ve got to admit, some of my favorite writing comes from the early years of FASA’s Battletech game. I’ve always been intrigued by the alternate future timeline, and there were so many great supplements to game pre-clans. There was also a massive amount of great artwork featuring Tim Bradstreet, Jeff Laubenstein, David Deitrick, and of course Jim Holloway.I tend to view this period, roughly 1985-1991 as Holloway’s golden age, and although his skills never deteriorated like some artists, his passion waned and I think that took the shine off of most of his artwork. That is certainly not the case...
